Very poor product

I bought this item as a replacement for my previous beard trimmer that had lasted for years. However, due to the poor quality of blade cutting and slow speed, I am constantly frustrated by the Braun BT5010. I have finally given up on it and will look to find a better one to replace it - which shouldn't be too hard!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not bad for my first try of a beard trimmer

I received this trimmer for free from Braun as a trial. I've never used a beard trimmer that's aimed to maintain a specific length of facial hair, only those that give a (relatively) clean shave. On opening the BT5010 I was impressed by the simplicity of the dial to adjust the desired length and overall appreciated the simple design. The attachment is easy to clip on and off which I found to be necessary frequently during use to get rid of hair build up.Pros:- It's incredibly quiet compared to other electric razors I have used.- There are a number of length options, from 1mm to 10mm (in 0.5 increments)- The design is nice and simple- The trimming attachment is easily removed and when used without the trimmer is excellent at tidying up edgesCons:- It's a little too bulky for my face. My jawline is quite sharp and I found it very difficult to trim all areas to the same length. Eventually I managed to but it took a very long time and on occasions I had to do it without the attachment.- Similarly, the shape doesn't lend itself to getting under the chin and around some places of the face.Overall, for my first use of a trimmer designed to cut to a specific length I find it gets the job done even if it requires a bit of effort to make sure you get there. No one wants to have a few extra long hairs! Depending on the price I'd certainly buy it and will continue to use it from here. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Braun Beard Trimmer no match for Babyliss

I couldn’t wait for this trimmer to arrive. Firstly because I was amazed to be able to try one completely free of charge, but mainly because the timing was impeccable given that my trusty Babyliss stubble trimmer died only 1 week before. What better time to try a different brand!I know the Braun 5010 is modeled as a beard trimmer and not a stubble trimmer. I usually keep my beard somewhere between stubble and bush and so the shaver may not have been perfect for this length and appears more suited to longer beard types. Initial inspections reveal what feels to be a sturdy trimmer, well weighted and easy to hold and use. The attachments and peripheries however feel decidedly cheap. The clip on dial-adjusted length guide is flimsy at best and I’m sure wouldn’t survive a fall. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the supposed length settings as in all honesty once used the length of my beard appeared different from one section to another. The charger suffers too from apparent budget limits. The cord feels like it has been designed to biodegrade within a month of opening and certainly doesn’t look like it will survive for the life of the shaver. The (one and only) good point: Price. The unit has been introduced into an already saturated market, but aimed at the lowerend and so im sure will be competitive and bought on mass. Personally after spending some time with it, the cheapness begins to shine through and I’d look to pay an extra £10 for a more quality product. The bad point(s):overall quality and substandard performance. As I say I am used to using the Babyliss istubble to trim by beard. This device is smaller than the Braun, more ergonomically designed and quicker to use. The istubble also has a spring loaded cutting blade, meaning it swivels and turns with the contours of your face to give a uniform length of hair. This is the biggest downside to the Braun. The cutting unit is fixed in place and so you end up with longer hairs around the angle of your jaw that you just can’t seem to get to. I ended up going over the same areas repeatedly but still ended up looking like I’d never shaved before.Overall if price is the main factor in deciding which product to buy, go for the Braun. If however you are looking to buy an item that lasts and actually delivers a trim that allows you to be seen in public, spend a bit extra and seek out the competition. Been trying to find a great trimmer for a year...

Stil havent found a replacememt for my ageing trimmer from another brand. I got this for free from Braun and was looking forward to using it. Its looks and feels great and handy that it can be washed, however after my first try i was disappointed. It didnt give me an even shave and didnt seem to cut much off even on the lowest setting. I managed to get an okay shave by taken the head attachment off but then im shaving with a number 0. Will give it another couple of tries over the next few weeks but for now im not sold on this one just yet [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Not for a rush cut

It started off well. Well packaged, neat and tidy and with clear instructions (in a multitude of languages). The BT5010 trimmer (which I aquired free from Braun) required several hours of charging before being ready to use. The first glitch I found was here, where my red/green colour blindness made it difficult to detect whether it was fully charged or still charging. However I encountered no battery problems since, so I can't really complain about this.I will happily admit I do not have the longest beard usually, however when I first tried to use the trimmer it was far longer than the minimum length this device is meant to cope with. Therefore I was surprised when I started using it to discover the trimmer was actually trimming very little off. Many hairs were 'escaping' through the grating, and each strip of hair required several goes to be able to completely remove the excess lengths. As a curiosity - I thought I'd try it on longer hair, namely my 'really should have cut it last month' head (sporting quite an over-eager fringe by this point). Similar story here - it was awkward to hold and didn't do the job nearly as well as any other trimmer I had used before.I can't comment on long beards, however if you are a gent with merely substantial stubble, this almost certainly won't be the best on the market for you. It will do the job, but only after hacking away at your chin for a few minutes to get the desired result.I have previously used Braun for many products and am sure I will do again in the future, but this particular one will definitely not be overused. Good for hair trimming

When i ordered this product for free from Braun first i thought it will be a dual purpose one for both beard and hair.Arrived in good condition not a big box, first impression was it got very sleek design start liking it from first sight. Like the power button and hair trimming tools.I charged it for 30 min before i start no issues with that. Thinking to do a clean shave. When i started it was ok need to give more pressure and speed is not to great.Second time when i tried to trim my hair with settings 6 was actually good better than i expected. Finally i can recommend this product if someone whats to use mainly for hair and beard trimming, Not for clean shave. Simple and effective

Having owned a few beard trimmers in the past from other brands, I was happy to try out the BT5010, which I received free from Braun. My main two issues with similar models are that the increments aren't small enough to be precise when cutting, and the combs usually bend and bow if put under even a small amount of pressure, leading to an uneven cut.The BT5010 is different in that the dial for length selection has very fine increments and the comb is very sturdy, giving a controlled precise cut. The lifetime sharp self sharpening blades sound very handy, though time can only tell with that one.Very good product, once again thanks to Braun for the free product to try. Very good product

I have been using this beard trimmer daily for the last week. It's easy to use and adjust the trimmer settings. Being water proof it's easy to clean. Battery life so far is great, only charged it the first time of use and haven't needed to charge again yet, ideal if your going away and don't want to take the charger. Would recommend this product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Okay, but not perfect

Having recently decided to grow my beard out a bit I was struggling with it being uneven, so when I got invited to review a free Beard Trimmer by Braun I thought it would bea great opportunity to clean up.When I received the trimmer it was well packaged and attractive, it feels nice to hold and seems to run smoothly enough. As I am trying to grow my beard the first thing I did was check the maximum length, which is a setting of 10mm.This sounded a bit short, but have agreed to review the product I proceeded to trim. I found I had to go through thicker parts of my beard more than once to remove the hair, and despite my best efforts my beard still remains longer in some areas than others. Now this may not be the blades of the trimmer, however the way the adjustable length comb guide works it seems to allow a lot of trimmed hair to get stuck, and possibly block the blades getting access to my beard.Overall my beard is mostly even, if a little shorter than I would have preferred. This particular trimmer is suited only for someone looking to keep a reasonably short beard. This may be the reason it seemed to block up as it did take a greater length away. So perhaps the issues I found with the trimmer would not apply to everyone using it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Braun Shaver

I have been using the Braun Shaver for a good few weeks now which I received for free from Braun to test and am very impressed with the quality of the shave it gives. Usually when I use trimmers I tend to get pulling sometimes on the odd strand and have to constantly go over the same area to achieve a neat level cut. But with the this shaver it is one light stroke once over and the hair is instantly shaved without having to go over and over it. I love it! It definitely makes getting ready in the morning that much easier and quicker. I highly recommend it. It is reasonably priced and well within anybody's budget which is the one question I would ask first before anything! Great Product! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
