FAQs

Braun Series 9 FAQs

What's the difference between foil and rotary shavers?
Rotary shavers are designed to work with cyclical movements while Braun foil shavers are designed to work with efficient sideways movements on the skin giving perfect control and precision. The foils protect the skin from irritation and are specifically designed to deliver the most thorough and comfortable shave from Braun.

Do you have any recommendation on how to shave with an electric foil shaver?
We recommend that you shave before you take a shower. Stretch the skin and shave against the direction of beard growth. At all times, hold the shaver at a right angle (90°) to your skin. Keep the pressure even to achieve the most thorough and comfortable shave from Braun. To trim sideburns, moustache or beard, Series 9 features an intergrated precision trimmer with superior cutting performance. In order to use this comfortable and precise tool, simply slide the trimmer upwards.

How do I clean my shaver?
The new Braun Series 9 cc shavers feature the Braun Automatic Clean & Charge Station, proven to clean more hygienically than tap water. The 5-action Clean & Charge Station: automatically cleans, charges, lubricates, selects cleaning program and dries at the touch of a button for lasting cutting efficiency. All Series 9 shavers are also waterproof up to 5m for full washability.

How often do I need to change the shaver head?
We recommend replacing all cutter parts every 18 months.
To maintain optimal performance, we included a replacement part indicator in the display to ensure that you know when to exchange the cutter parts.

Does the battery have a memory effect as we know it from cell phones or laptops?
No, Series 9 shavers use a Li-ion battery which has no memory effect. You can recharge it whenever you want and it has a low self-discharge rate (vs. NiMh batteries). Li-Ion batteries are therefore the most powerful and long-lasting battery available for Braun shavers.

Where is Series 9 shaver manufactured?
Like all Braun premium shavers, Series 9 is designed, engineered, and manufactured in Germany to ensure the very best build quality and reliability. All of our shavers are designed and tested to last at least 7 years, giving you the peace of mind that you can continue to enjoy the unique Series 9 experience for a very long time.

Excellent shaver but...

I do love this shaver got it for free from a braun partner but the issues I have are with the the two pin socket, I have a two pin to three pin convertor socket and it's very loose so to charge it is a major headache apart from the the product itself is amazing and would highly recommend The charge is very quick and you feel the quality when holding and using it and it gives u a very close shave. But I cringe everytime I have to charge it and fear one day I might be caught out is when I need it and I can't charge properly Suggestions : have a clip on plug like mobile phone chargers do for two - three prongs then it would be perfect (like Some of the other manufacturers do)

Yes, I recommend this product !

Braun 9240s Shaver

Thanks to Braun for sending me this shaver to test and review. Upon opening it I could see a lot went into the design and ergonomics of the shaver. It was a decent weight, felt like it had something to it and looked visually appealing too! I charged it up fully as stated in the manual and was keen to use it. For my first shave, I used it dry. I wasn't entirely happy with the results. I used the shaver for around 15mins and was left with a lot of patchy areas it hadn't shaved (see pics). For the second shave, I tried it wet, with similar results this time around. I did a little Internet search to find the retail price of the product and was shocked! I would have expected a closer shave on the entire face and it not to have been so patchy for the price. I don't know whether it's my face type, hair or another factor why I didn't have the expected results. Once again thanks to Braun for the pleasure! Very comfortable, close shave, makes shaving less of a chore

I enjoyed using the Braun series 9 9240s, but with its price tag I wasn't completely blown away with it. The design and overall feel of the shaver is good and it has some good features. Firstly i love the fact it is fully charged in an hour. The charge lasts well so no need to take charger with you if your going away for a few days. So more room in your wash bag, it comes with its own good quality carry case as well. I tried the shaver on both the dry and wet settings. Much preferred using the shaver as a wet shaver. I used shaving gel which the Braun deals with excellently, and also limits irritation. The Braun is fully waterproof so you can use in shower or bath. You get a real close shave on this setting better than i was expecting, not far off as close as you would with a manual razor. But the great thing with this shaver like most electric shavers, you shouldn't get cuts. The only thing that stopped this shaver being 5 star was its problem with neck hair. No matter how much i angled the head or how many times i went over an area. I had revert back to a traditional manual razor for these areas. But to be fair to this product i haven't found an electric shaver that can handle my neck hair yet. Overall this shaver certainly makes shaving a bit less of a chore. It's a braun

I'll preface this by saying i received this product for free from braun and don't have any other vested interest in it. That said, as someone that usually keeps stubble on my face i was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to use especially on the dry setting and not having to mess around with shaving foam is always a bonus, plus i didn't get the same dry skin feeling i would get after shaving with a razor. The battery lasts a very long time (only comes with the 2 pin plug though, so if you don't have that shaver socket in your bathroom like i don't you'll need an adapter) and the supplied hard shell case makes it perfect for throwing into a suitcase or bag if you travel about alot. It feels very solid in the hand and has a good weight to it, making it very comfortable to hold. I've already recommended it to friends, so if you're on the fence about it you should definitely go for it. One star off for not having a 3 pin wall plug but definitely a 5 star shaver. Not award winning for me, but a great show!

So here it is, one of the worlds best electric shavers. Free! Everyone loves free, but there's a lot of convincing to do as for the last 20 years I have used a cut throat razor as my shaving tool of choice. I have tried electric shavers in the past and didn't like how it made my skin feel, but this is a well built shaver that deserves a fair try.My first try is from the picture to this review. It's several days of growth and sadly I was expecting to be clean shaved. It's half shaved in the picture and it did my cheeks well, although trying to precisely do the sideburns was fairly tricky to get a good edge. I really struggled with under the jawline and it left patches of hair that just wouldn't cut. Sadly this meant I had to re-shave with my razor, so didn't start well.My second attempt was with less growth, maybe 3-4 days and it was a noticeable improvement, but not perfect. It did leave me having to shave manually again, much to my annoyance. I left it for 3-4 days a few more times and even tried taking it into the shower.Note: at this point I must point out that this was weird, to wet shave. I just don't get it, and it's much more of a pain to clean the foil and razor after a wet shave. I just don't get this as a selling point! So, at this point we are halfway into the thirty day trial. So far, disappointing, especially for the RRP of this device. But, moving on....For the next week I shave every other day, and I must admit I'm happy with the result. There's no noticeable stray hairs it can't cut and certainly seems to prefer this. Ok so it doesn't feel as smooth as it could be but the end result was a very quick and easy shave, without cuts. For the last half a week I've been shaving daily. I seem to have fairly sensitive skin as it left my neck feeling rashy, and needing moisuriser. This is not something I need with a wet shave, but for this trial it was worth doing.Would I personally buy this shaver? No. I don't shave daily and tend to leave it several days at a time. For that reason it's not one for me. If I shaved daily then yes I would certainly consider it, the wide head makes light work of the job and certainly gave a nice feel when shaving regularly.Pro's:Quick and easyReally long battery life between charges (I haven't charged it all month)Large head Cons:Poor at fine detail trimmingThumb naturally rests on one of the buttonsSo there we have it, I may not be the best person to rate, but I did like the shave. If only it was better with more growth under the jaw then I would be singing from the treetops as it's a lot less effort than wet shaving. But, sadly, it's close but no cigar. It's still a study machine that would be a great investment for some. I have given it 4 stars as for an everyday or every other day shaver it would be perfect. It just doesn't do well after 4 days of growth and has poor edging skills. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

You get what you pay for.

For the past few years I’ve been using a quality shaver and have been really satisfied with it, that was until I tried the Braun Series 9 9240s, which I have used for the past few days, the Braun completely outperforms my old one. As soon as I held it I was impressed, it’s tactile, light, easy to hold in the shower, and beautifully styled. With the 4 separate blades it shaves absolutely superbly, and coped happily when I skipped a day, without pulling too much. It was also powerful enough to shave me quickly which helped lessen skin irritation. The head can lock into several positions if you wish, although I found it worked perfectly for me in the free floating position, easily getting into hard to shave areas such as under the nose. I tried it for a wet shave and it left my face as smooth as a baby’s you know what, perfect for a night out, it also performs brilliantly for a dry shave as well. The trimmer works well without having to put the shaver into odd positions to get at the hair. If you take pride in your grooming this is a no gimmicks piece of gear, and even at the top price end of a competitive market, worth the investment. One minor niggle is that even though it has a hard travel case I would still like to have a protective blade cover for when it’s in the bathroom cabinet. Braun Series 9 Electric Shaver 9240s

I couldn't wait for the shaver to arrive and start using it, I even let my stubble have a few days extra growth so I could really put it to the test. Since having fair hair and very sensitive skin I always have struggled finding the right electric shaver for me most leaving me with irritation and dry skin so was looking forward to seeing what the Braun Series 9 9240s and after reading some of the new features I was very excited. As soon as it arrived I put it onto its docking station and got it on charge. (this is my only negative, the docking station isn't great, when the shaver sat upright a slight knock will send the shaver flying, I haven't done this but could see it easily happening). I have to say first impressions, wow it's a very stylish and easy to hold in the hand not to heavy but not to light, loving the blue trim around the shaver this really does stand out from the rest and is the best looking shaver I've ever had. I just hope it's performance lives upto expectation..... Well what can I say I waited patiently while it was on charge and after the first hour charge I hit the on button, I have to say it's louder than I thought it was going to be compared to my past shavers but to be fair it just increased my excitement and I just couldn't wait to give it a try. I really wasn't disappointed this shaver removed every bit of neck/facial stubble with such ease, there was no need to go over certain hard to reach areas two or three times or pressing hard on my skin, just one gentle glide over the area enough. It has left my skin feeling the smoothest and softest to touch it has ever been since i started shaving over 15 years ago, with no irration and the usual red marks after shaving.....I'm impressed in fact very impressed with its performance and can't wait for my stubble to grow back so I can use again. Braun Series 9 electric shaver

A brilliant campaign! Highly recommend this to any man. Nice design and easy to use. I suffer with dry skin and this shaver made all the difference. I have used this razor three times already and my skin isn't half as dry as it was. Easy to use, handy rechargeable station and very good power. It reaches those hard to get places and I love the additional pop up shaver on the back to get an even appearance. I am very impressed with the product and I will be recommending to friends and family. For a close even shave I would recommend this shaver. Item is a bit pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. The set also includes a storage bag with the shaver and also a brush to keep it clean. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to test this amazing product I am well impressed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Good shaver

I found the braun series 9 to give a comfortable shave and wasn't too heavy. The hair trimmer was easy to use without feeling flimsy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Better than the 7 series

I Currently use the Braun 7 series which is now quite old and ready to be replaced, so was excited to see what the 9240s had to offer. The first thing I noticed was the shaving head is a lot larger and saves having to go over the same part of ny face and neck twice, it also has 3 foils and seems to pick up hairs laying flat a lot easier again saving on having to re-shave the same area and causing redness / rash. I also noticed that the battery is also much better I Seem to get twice as many shaves compared to my 7 series. The overall appearance is nice, design is clean and modern, the battery indicator is nice and simple to read. I've not used it to wet shave yet, but like the ability to lock the head for dry shaving. The included case worked well, I took it away with me last week and didn't need to worry about it turning on in my suitcase. My only frustration is the stand, sometimes I find it hard to dock and when the shaver is on it, it's a little top heavy. All in all its an upgrade to the 7 series and worth the extra in my opinion and I'm very pleased with its performance. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
